North India

Today in class we watched a movie on northern India.

The first city it visited was Varanasi. Varanasi according to Hindu beliefs is Shiva’s holy city. The Ganges river is also located in Varanasi. Their are over 100 stairs leading to the Ganges.

Then it visited Agra, India the town whee the Taj Mahal is located. The Taj Mahal was made by a Shah whose wife died after giving birth to her 14th child.It took 20,00 people and 22 years for the Taj Mahal to be completed.

Next we learned about Hindu ceremonies. In the Hindu religion

  • The Geta is the holy book.
  • Carma is what you do and keep on doing.
  • Krishna is a god with many forms. He is also very popular with the poor.

After that the movie had us travel to Corbett National Park. Corbett National Park has

  • Nearly 600 species of bird.
  • Was India’s first National Park.
  • Famous for its elephants, tigers, and leopards. (oh,my)

    haven’t published anything in a month! what’s up with that? I know some free software that you can use that will resize your pictures and take away the blue edge around them.
    I expect to see some fun facts about Oklahoma!
    I think Oklahoma is having it’s centennial this year. Your great grandfather was born in Oklahoma before it was a state in 1905 ..
