Science 4/26/07

Today we watched a movie on magnetism. We learned by rubbing a magnet on a piece of metal. When this happens the atoms line up to create a temporary magnet.

    I remember making a battery using a copper penny and two silver dimes [which are really hard to find — they were called Mercury head dimes]. You sandwich the penny between the dimes and put them in a saltwater solution .. poof .. instant battery .. Of course they weren’t very portable..
